About

Located on the seventh floor of Bellin Hospital, Bellin Health Pulmonary and Sleep Center in Green Bay provides all the resources needed to diagnose and treat your pulmonary and sleep issues in one location.

We offer a complete array of testing services to get to the root cause of our patients' issues including

Pulmonary Function Testing

  • Spirometry - the measurement of the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled
  • Lung Volume Measurements - measures the capacity of a patient's lungs
  • Diffusing Capacity - measures the lung's ability to absorb and excrete gases, notably, oxygen and carbon dioxide. Bellin also offers the Impulse Oscilliometry (IOS) for those patients who are disabled and cannot give the necessary level of effort for testing.
Exercise Physiology Testing
  • Oximetry - a sensor is placed on a relatively thin part of the patient's anatomy, usually a fingertip or earlobe, and red and infrared light is passed from one side to the other. From these readings, a measure of oxygenation (the percent of hemoglobin molecules bound with oxygen molecules) can be made.
  • Ambulating Oximetry same as the standard Oximetry, but measurements are made as the patient is moving.
  • Cardiopulmonary Stress Test - progressive multistage treadmill test (Pulmonologist present) to evaluate the heart and lung response to exercise using breath-by-breath analysis of expired gases and 12 lead EKG. Lasts 1 1/2 hours. This test is also available offsite. Bellin is one of 2 hospitals in the Midwest and 8 in the nation to with portable equipment, the Oxycon Mobile.
  • Oxygen Stress Test - progressive multistage treadmill test (Pulmonologist present) to evaluate oxygen saturation during exercise to determine the need for supplemental oxygen. Includes 12 lead EKG and lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours.
  • Respiratory Muscle Strength - detects respiratory muscle weakness.
  • Indirect Calorimetry - a measurement of metabolism via oxygen consumption and CO2 production to help predict a patient's energy (calorie) requirements.

Sleep Studies:

During sleep studies at our labs, some of the sleep issues we test for include:
  • Sleep Apnea - breathing is interrupted by a physical blockage of the airway or by a problem with the effort of breathing.
  • Narcolepsy - the overwhelming excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), even after adequate nighttime sleep.
  • Insomnia - an inability to sleep and/or to be incapable of remaining asleep for a sustained period of time.
  • Restless Leg Syndrome - an overwhelming desire to move one's legs. This usually occurs while at rest, later in the evening, or just prior to sleep onset.
Compliance Clinic -

Struggling with your sleep mask? Are you comfortable with your prescribed CPAP pressure? Our registered sleep technicians have years of troubleshooting experience.
